Weekend's done

Oh yeah, please excuse the extended blog renos, I am hating this setup!

I took this photo last week while we were sitting in the car waiting for Daddy. She did not want to cooperate at all, she wouldn't look at the camera and she kept touching the lens, lol. Doesn't she look sweet? I love it.
I made the layout using Jane Atwell's ( designer) Beloved kit, I absolutely love it.
We had a great weekend, watching the kids play hockey, swimming, playing lego at the Odyssium. So nice to relax with the kids and dh, just being together. We taught Sunday school for the last time for a few months. I felt a little sad, I am really starting to get attached to the kids, what a bunch of sweeties. They are 3, I love 3! I really feel sad about leaving a few that did not want to come at all, leaving their Moms and Dads kicking and screaming at the door. I have helped to bring some of them around, I scoop 'em up and sit them on my knee for a while (or just let them be, the boys seem to want that and the girls want to sit on my knee-funny) and eventually they start to branch out, play, chat, let go of my hand, lol. I love that, some of my own kids have been quite reluctant to leave my side to go with someone else, but because of caregivers who have taken an interest in them they have all come around. Yay!
So last night my Dad came to town on his way up north to work, he hasn't come for a few months so it is so great to see him! We decided to bbq some steaks for dinner, some beautiful t-bones we got with our side of beef this fall. Of course it is dark out at 6:30, and we were chatting and my poor dh totally burned the steaks to a crisp. He was just sick about it, lol. poor guy. So he ran out and picked up some hamburgers that we ate with our baked potatoes and veggies. Not quite what we were looking forward to, but... what can you do?
Today dh and my Dad are going to pick me up a couple gigs of ram for this dinosaur I have been working with. I am so excited, I am sure it will make a huge difference for my scrapping! Eventually I will get a new computer, but in the meantime, this will me a nice upgrade.
And I hope that will mean that I will get a lot more layouts done!

More scraps

2 more layouts I was working on. I am trying to make myself finish stuff even if I am unsure that I like it. Trying to not allow perfectionism to prevent me from sharing my work. The snow angel layout is made with CDSU's own Terri Walsh's 'Let it Snow' kit. It was Judah's first snow angel ever! The other is J. Sprague's Echos of Asia. I love that photo, my kids looked so cute as we were out shopping, but there was no way they were gonna allow me to take their photo. Plus the sun was so bright, they couldn't see.

new pets

Credits: Jeannie Papai, Maria LaFrance's Buddy Boy, the third layout is a quickpage, the others by me.

A couple of layouts I finished today. Trying to get done with the Monkey boy's birthday pictures and the one of the dogs and him are his Uncle's labs, so cute! The chocolate is Henry and my bil has done a terrific job training him, he is so sweet and gentle. The cute blondie is Abby, she is just a puppy and very spirited! The birthday ones are of his two bday cakes with Lightning McQueen, he was so excited.

The kids are so excited, Dad finally fulfilled his promise of getting a new fish tank, so they are all obsessed with getting it ready and running. Then next weekend we will pick up some fishies.
woohoo! More mess for Mommy, and more stuff for Baby girl to get into! On the plus, I do love fish and the big kids are more than big enough to care for them.

We had a nice weekend together, dh was home all weekend, after working 14 hour days, 7 days a week for a few weeks. So it was really great to all be together and get out a bit.

Hockey weekend

Tonight my oldest scored his first game-winning goal!! Ever! It is actually his first goal of the season, he has played defense all year-and they have only won a handful of games so far. Anyway, it was an awesome game, the kids played terrific. As a whole, this group of kids is pretty laid back, it takes a lot to get them going. Tonight the refereeing was horribly one sided for the other team, and that was enough to light a fire in these kids. Made for a fun and exciting hockey game.
Last night his team had the parent vs. the kids hockey game and bbq. It was a lot of fun, tons of parents got out and played, good night all 'round. We have wonderful parents on this team and it is wonderful to get out a socialize a bit with them. Of course the kids won the big game and bragging rights. They rode the parents pretty hard after, lol.
My 3 yr old tried skating for the first time last night. We found him some little bob skates the other week, because his feet are so tiny we couldn't find any skates to fit him. He did not like it. His Dad held him and let him scoot a bit, and he fell on his bum a few times. He came off with me and told me, "I don't like to skate, Dad had to help me, I don't know how to skate. And I hurt my bum." He hated that he wasn't just good at it, he didn't want to have to learn how, just figured he would be able to do it. LOL We had a little chat and he wants to try again, so that is good. I think it is so funny that he is so much like his perfectionist Mom. I hate not being good at something, right away. Makes me not want to do it. I work really hard as a grown-up to fight that tendency, but obviously I am not doing a good enough job, since he is picking that up. Guess I have some work to do.
We have had a pretty great weekend with the kids so far, looking forward to heading to the science centre tomorrow, and maybe going to the outdoor rink for a bit.

Had to share Papa and his youngest grandbaby. She adores him, and I think he feels the same!
This was made with Jane Atwell's gorgeous Love is in the Air kit, available in our store soon.

How cute is this! Ara is sitting here chatting away, saying wuv wu! aww she loves her big brother, that is who she is talking to.

Man, I am such a Mom!

K, I just realized that there is waaay too much toilet talk in this blog-how can you tell that I am a mom, with toddlers! Yikes!
So, my new resolution is no more toilet talk on this blog. Well at least until dd is toilet training, lol.

Wow, we feel so relieved today, we got a bunch of stuff figured out with our web hosting provider for the site-my partner called him and he is so easy to work with, so it should be awesome!

Today, I am gonna step away from the computer and go hang out with my kids, should be an awesome day. Then I will go back to work when they go to bed, ahhh, so much easier with no little bums sitting on the keyboard.

Thursday, February 15, 2007 is open!

Our site is officially open!! Woohoo!!!
Come and visit,
Come have a look around, learn about digi scrapping, look at all the pics of our cute kids, lol.
Our store should open in the next day or so, we are just stocking it. Heidi and I should be up most of the night again, working on our contract and getting it out to our designers. Once we are past this week, I am hoping to start sleeping again, lol.

We had a nice Valentine's night, went for dinner-sans kids, terrific food-and I only ate half!! So proud of my portion control thing, I am getting pretty good at it. I used to think if I grazed all day it would make me even heavier. But what I have been doing is having a hard boiled egg, or a piece of fruit, or a piece of cheese, or whatever, whenever I really need to eat. I am embracing the hunger burn for a while and then having something small and nourishing and then having a small dinner. It is working great for me! I am not binging anymore(hurts too much!) and I am losing even though my activity level is pretty low and stress pretty high, trying to get our site up and running. Can't wait to work out again, I think the weight will just fall off!
Today was interesting to say the least. I awoke in the wee hours to the sound of one of my kids getting sick in the bathroom. Poor guy, I hate when they are sick, and there is nothing I can do about it.
It was gorgeous out today though, kids went outside to play in the snow-JuJu was so excited!!
No one got much accomplished, although I am seeing concrete at the bottom of my laundry room floor! woohoo!
Then tonight, in that awful part of the day between end of nap and dinner, my toddlers were out in full force. Baby girl was so clingy today, she wouldn't let me out of her sight, or put her down. I think they may be a little attention starved as I have been sitting at the computer for days, working. A few stories or games of ring around the rosie, are not cutting it anymore! Poor things, lol. Today I didn't work much at all, so that is better.
The Monkey boy was in trouble all day, he poured the rest of a jug of *precious* chocolate milk into the bathroom garbage can, yuck. Then while I am trying to make dinner, he goes up to use the bathroom. Well he must have decided to try and pee standing up, but with his potty seat on the toilet, so he peed everywhere. Then he takes the tp roll to wipe up and drops the whole thing in the toilet. Then he poos all over the floor! So we get the poo where it belongs, then him into the shower, and I spray bleach cleaner on everything. Oh by the way just before this he was in the bathroom playing with toothpaste, squeezing it out with his foot on the floor, then spreading it everywhere! - anyway... I run downstairs to stir the food, making sure I closed the bathroom door, but somehow baby girl gets in there and walks through the bleach that I haven't had time to wipe up yet. soo...
Just a normal day in our house...
Hope yours was quieter.

A 3 year old's Prayer

At supper tonight,
my 3yr old monkey boy says, "Dear Jesus, thank you for this you for this food, ...thank you Daddy's work, what I say now?"
Me, "Well if you are done talking to God, you can say, 'in Jesus name, Amen.'
3yr old, "No, I not done."
Me, "You can ask God to keep Daddy safe as he drives home from work."
3 yr old, "Thank you, bring Daddy home work. Jesus name, amen."
Me, "Great job sweetie."
3 yr old, "I pray Mommy, 'cause you teach me how!"

My heart was so full, I felt all teary. I got to teach my little boy to talk to God, and he was so happy to. I always tell my kids that they can talk to God any time, he is always with them. They don't have to use fancy words, just tell him what is in their hearts-God wants to be their friend, their perfect parent-how awesome is that! When I was a child and a teenager, I always had a running conversation with God in my head. I had a tendency towards shyness and fearfulness, so it was so comforting knowing He was always with me. I really need to get back in that habit, seems I have filled my mind with to many 'to do' lists to make room for His constant presence in my heart. He is always faithful, but I, sadly, am not.
Thank you God for this day with my children, and the reminder of where my heart and mind should be.
see, I am, we are, always, morphin', changing-becoming the woman/people God wants us to be. I am so not there yet.

Happy Valentine's day!!

Here are some Valentine's
For my Partner, Happy Birthday, Happy Valentine's, and Happy almost opening day!
luv ya,
And for my dh:
Love you honey, thank you for 13 years of lovin', lol. Wow, our thirteenth Valentine's Day together!

I have been so thankful to share this life with you. God has so richly blessed us, we have an amazing inheritance from him in our 4 beautiful children. Can't wait to see what the next 13 years and more will bring.
Love you,

Hate to lose

Here are a couple of my recent layouts.

This layout is of our girly girl. She saw this doll in Costco and totally went nuts for it! She starts bouncing up and down, reaching out her hands yelling, "Doll, doll, baby, baby!'"
Needless to say it went straight into the bottom of the cart, to be given Christmas morn. She got tons of dolly stuff and just loves to take care of them and drag this one around-the doll is just about as big as our girl!

This is my oldest and his dad, they were wrestling around and Dad knew the best way to 'get' him was to give him a big wet smacker!

stamps by Autumn Leaves

The power went out last night, so I couldn't work on the site. My dh was tickled pink! He lit a fire and we crawled into bed early, so nice. I didn't realize how tired I had become til I woke up this morning and had no desire to get up. Give my egg back to the hen, I am not going to get up today!
Thank God for friends, especially those who love God too. I had the nicest visit with one of mine yesterday. After walking for a half hour in the -20degrees C, snowy weather, pushing my toddlers in the Chariot! brrr... but well worth it. She even invited us to stay for some chili and drove us home after, how sweet. It is so uplifting to spend some time with her, chatting about our lives, homeschooling struggles and triumphs, marriage, life... and sometimes just relaxing with a competitive game of scrabble. Finally someone to play scrabble with! My dh quit playing with me years ago, he is way too competitive to continually lose to me, lol. But my friend is way better than me, she knows all the little tricks, the ins and outs, all the 2 letter words. Man I better practice up, I hate to lose.

As you know we have 4 kids over a wide age range, and my dh works in industry. We have a lot of laundry, a lot. Potty training, 2 toddlers, bed wetting, sports, etc., etc.,... So laundry is something I have to work at every day, probably 4 loads a day to keep caught up. Usually I am behind, so when I do it it is like 6 loads a day. So over the last couple of days I had been trying to get caught up, I probably had 10-12 loads of clean laundry on my family room couches, some waiting to be folded, others waiting to be put away. (not a smart thing, because the toddlers love to unfold it all!) My very dh decides that I must be cold last night and he is going to start a fire in the fireplace. Well, apparently it was so cold and the fire just starting, so not very hot, that the smoke would not rise up the chimney. Our family room was filling with smoke! Soon I am coughing and telling him to put the damn thing out, lol. Anyway, all my laundry, my whole house in fact, smells like a camp fire. Yuck!
Speaking of laundry, today my 3 yr old decides to have a nap in my bed. Now the last time he slept there, he peed my bed. This was a few days ago, so I had just laundered all my bedding. Today I thought I was smart and put a pad under him. I went in to wake him after a while and he was still dry!!! So I woke him and told him I was proud of him and that it was time to get up and pee. What does he do? He sits up, then lays on his tummy on top of my duvet and my quilt and proceeds to void his little bladder! Arghh!!! So add three to my daily laundry loads, sooo frustrating.
Oh well, they are terribly cute for the most part.
Well except for when my 12 year old was upset because I told him he needed to right more than one sentence in his journal today and he went and wrote a whole page rant about how mad he is and how he hates me and wishes I would die and leave him alone! Then he brings this to me to read. I can tell you, he accomplished his goal. My heart was completely shattered. I remember being so mad at my parents at that age especially, and wanting to hurt them. But I naively thought that my kids wouldn't feel that way about me, at least not yet. I know he just wanted to get a rise out of me, but talk about gut wrenching anguish. I still want to cry.
We made up and he wrote me an apology and that he wished he could turn back time. We talked about what he was feeling and why he was so angry. It was good, I guess, I just still can't believe that my sweet little boy could think such terrible things.
On a sweeter note, my baby girl was so cute today. She was climbing into a toy bin, and couldn't get out, so she started yelling, "I'n stuck, I'n stuck!" Her brothers and I were a little shocked at how clearly she can communicate. Pronouns and everything. She even used am instead of just I stuck or me stuck. Anyway, I know that I am the only one who cares how brilliant my 18month old is, lol. She really liked saying it. All afternoon she went around putting her foot in things and yelling, "I'n stuck!"

No ski trip

I am feeling a bit blue this morning. I was just on Urbanmoms and reading about 2 of the gals going to Panorama on a ski trip. We were supposed to go with 2 friends' families at the end of February, but we had to cancel the trip for various reasons. I have been pretty philosophical about it, until this morning. I want my holiday!!wahhhhhh! I want the mountain fresh air-tons of exercise and visiting! wah wah wah! I want my kids to go have fun with their friends, and ski from the time the lifts open til after they close, like last year!-k rant done
We had such an amazing time last year, even though I had 2 babies and didn't even ski. My girlfriend and I pushed our toddlers around in their Chariots, up and down, back and forth from the lodge. Hung out at the bottom of the hill, saying hi to the big guys as they skied in and out. Just all being together-It was a blast!
Well hopefully it will work out for next year-I can't wait!

ahh... sleep

Well I finally got some sleep last night... I have been up late working on stuff for the site every night, and then laying awake thinking when I finally do go to bed. So last night, I shut down around midnight and actually managed to get like 7 hours!! I feel like a million bucks today! So I think I will actually post this entry, rather than starting one and then not being able to think long enough to finish it, lol.
I got over my scrap block too, I made 3 layouts for our best friends challenge today, so far...
When I saw the challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to scrap.
We met these friends back when we lived in Calgary, and we both had 2 kids, the youngest of whom were both around 1. We connected right away and our friendship has grown over the years. Through the births of 5 more kids, the mourning of one of them-our stillborn baby girl Kalila. I couldn't have asked for a better friend at that time, she cried with me-the only thing you can do at a time like that.
Two of those children are only 3 weeks apart-let me tell you, we were quite a site dragging our brood around town, both preggo out to 'there', in our velour track suits, lol. (shh... don't tell anyone I wore one of those-it was hideous, but the only comfy thing in my drawer at 8+months!)
She has helped to guide me into my homeschooling journey-as she jumped right in, and I had to put my kids through a few years of school before making my decision. Now we can support one another and whine together when things are hard, encourage and uplift each other when we need it, and commiserate on our messy houses, and the kids latest achievements.
All our kids adore each other, they still consider each other their best friends, even though we haven't lived in the same city for almost 3 years. Even our hubby's get along, it is so nice to have friends that share our values and Faith. Who have a similar family dynamic as we do, with kids ranging from 18 months to 12 years old. And who share a similar family centered lifestyle, homeschooling included.
We just registered our oldest boys for camp this summer, I have been meaning to do that for the last 3 summers, but I kept leaving it too late. They will be so excited to go together, and we will hang out at the lake with the rest of the kids, just enjoying each other's company!
Anyway, I decided to scrap our family trip to their new home on the coast, all the fun times we had together.-been meaning to get to that for a while anyway! Of course there are no photos of the mommies-we always seem to be behind the camera.
Here is one of our little girls. credits are The Gift, an Oscraps Collaboration.

need to scrap

So busy on the site, haven't had the head space to scrap at all. Thought I better write down some of the stuff I want to scrap, so I don't forget. k, scrap 1.bella ballerina-Bella watched Angelina Ballerina with her daddy the other day, and ever since she stands up with her hands above her head, turning around and around saying, " 'rina, 'rina," how cute is that! So I want to scrap that in her pink ballerina dress her auntie bought her.
2.she also comes up and grabs us by the hand yelling at us, "round, round, down, down!" She wants to play ring around the rosie. She just squeals and laughs and falls down before you get once around yelling, "down!" Then she wants you to help her up, she will be lazy if you let her, she is always yelling, "up!" when she wants to get on the couch, or up stairs, or up from the ground, anyway.... I took some pics of my toddlers and my niece playing 'round, round' the other day when my sis was visiting, so I think I will use those.
3.Potty trained! Monkey boy decided to use the potty full time the day of his b-day party. He always seemed to be inspired when he had a friend to play who was trained, like VJ. Well she was at the party and they used the toilet together and that was it. He wanted to use the potty like a big boy, now he wants to use it like a 'stand up' boy. We didn't know what he was saying at first, maybe urinal boy??? we knew he meant to stand and pee like his brothers but were not sure of the words, then we figured it out-and had a good laugh.
4. finish christmas and the monkey's bday, move on the the big boys bdays, and backwards from there
so much to scrap-I know I had more ideas, but can't remember now
oh yeah, Heidi wanted to scrap the caterpillar song, so I have to send her the lyrics and some pics....
