Monkey Boy Makes Toast

A couple days ago, I woke up and came downstairs right away as I could hear My Monkey Boy making noise. I was worried that he was climbing stuff in the kitchen trying to cook breakfast. Turns out he was just changing a cd. Phew!

My relief was short-lived when I found a frozen loaf of raisin bread on the counter and a big knife laying on top. I assumed he had used the knife to pry a piece off the loaf. I put some in the toaster and told him I was making toast for him. The toaster was unplugged so I had to plug it in. Strange.

Make it for Girly, he told me, he had toast already. What??!! Like cold bread or hot toast?? Hot toast. Okay then, he made himself toast. My next questions were why was the toaster unplugged and what was the big knife for. I had a bad feeling that I knew the answer already. He had used the knife to get the bread out of the toaster, but had thought to unplug the toaster first. Thank goodness!

At least half the week, he wakes up at some point, usually strips, and then crawls into bed with us. Once he crawls in, I have a very hard time getting back to sleep. I have written about it before and about my mixed feelings. I love to cuddle up in his warm little baby arms. But he should sleep in his own bed. I haven't slept through the night in the four months I have been pregnant.

Until last night. I slept through until just before Brent's alarm went off at 6:30. I didn't get up to pee or too dry because I was breathing through my mouth. (that has been many nights because I am now working through my fourth cold since January!) It was so amazing to wake up and feel rested. And no Monkey in my bed. Only problem with that being that he then gets up early, goes downstairs before I wake up and helps himself to food. This time it was a large bowl of canned fruit he found in the fridge that I then stepped in when I went downstairs. Ick!

Tomorrow I have an ultrasound and I am looking so forward to it. I will tell you all about it tomorrow night and maybe post a pic if I can get my scanner to work!

  1. Well it's a good thing he unplugged it first! Not being a morning person in any way, shape or form, my kids started helping themselves to breakfast at an early age!

Thanks for stopping by my place. I love your title--it really says something.

  2. That is amazing that he knew to unplug the toaster! You're doing something right. My kids are starting to help themselves, too. The knives, among other things scare me!

  3. He sure is growing up...

Good luck at your ultrasound - sending you lots of healthy baby vibes!

Will you find out the sex?

    Any names chosen yet??

  4. Phew . . . he knew to unplug the toaster. Momma, you're doin' sometin' right!

As for the sleeping in the bed . . . oh, boy do I struggle (I've probably commented on those posts before). We have made the transition to the crib (it only took 7 months), but he still ends up in bed with me when hubby gets up to go to work (yes, hubby either puts him in bed cause I'm too tired to get up at 5:30 OR I pull him in with me cause I'M TOO TIRED--gotta do what ya gotta do!).

I feel for you about getting a good night's sleep. Gosh, those days were tough! I'm glad you are getting some sleep here and there.

Can't wait to see the US photos! I hope the scanner works--I need a pre-birth baby pic fix :) Good luck!!!

  5. Oh Lord. Why must they give us heart attacks??

So excited to see the ulstrasound pics! I'm glad you got a good night's sleep, even though youpaid for it with the monkey antics...

  6. hmmmmm, where could he have gotten the knife idea from dear???????

  7. Glad you got a good night's sleep! That's great that he knew to unplug the toaster!
Can't wait to see the ultrasound pics.

  8. Clever boy, that Monkey!

Good luck with the US! I'll be thinking about you.

  9. I can't believe he WANTS to make his own breakfast....my kids are perfectly content for me to wait on them hand and foot. :)

I hope you get some great pics from your ultrasound! Will you find out the sex? The surprise is fun....but knowing is fun too! It helped me get over the ho-hum of the last half of the pregnancy.

  10. So funny (and great) that he unplugged the toaster first. What a smart boy.
Ultrasound! Can't wait for the pics.

  11. Oooohh, I would be a little concerned, too. And have a talk about NOT using anything sharp or electric without supervision. Not sure it would help, though...boys are pretty stubborn, as you and I are well aware. They always know best, don't they?

Hope the US goes well...can't wait to hear all about it.

  12. I know I'm repeating what others have said, but it's a good thing he knew enough to unplug the toaster.

Good luck with the u/s. Will you be finding out the sex of the baby? Did you know the others before they were born?

  13. happy ultrasounding...so much pressure, trying to be able to see the baby, it looked like static to me, i was hopeless. but hearing the heartbeat, nothing better.

  14. Whew, I would have been a wreck too. But my kids always suprise me with how much they are actually aware of how to take care of themselves... that is until they turn into teenagers then they sudenly forget how to take a shower.

  15. Thank God he unplugged it first!

My little guy still climbs into bed with me too. Makes for a rough night when struggling with Baby.
