I hate taekwondo.

I am so not happy with the Master at our Dojang. He has decided to add a teen class. Great, wonderful, terrific idea. Having a teen class means that now I get to drive to the Dojang 7 or 8 times a week instead of 3 or 4. Having a teen class means that I have to be at that bloody Dojang 6 days a week, instead of 3 or 4. Having a teen class means that instead of a manageable 3 lattes a week habit, now I am going to have to have 6 to 8 lattes a week. I honestly do not think there is room in my budget for that. Or in the waistbands of my pants.
A pox on the Master. Argh! Not only do I pay him an exorbitant amount of money each month so that my kids learn how to hit each other more effectively, I now have zero free evenings a week. Not one evening where my kids can eat a home cooked meal at a reasonable hour of the day. I either feed them at 4pm or 7:30pm. Or I feed the preschoolers in the car while shuttling back and forth to the dojang and feed the big kids later.
My dh was thinking that our 4 year old needed to start going to taekwondo too. Thankfully he is feeling too timid to start yet, because yep, you guessed it, that would require adding at least 3 additional trips to the dojang a week. I just don't think so. Not until the big boys are in the same class again. Or I contract amnesia and a huge case of the galloping crazies. And I steal a transporter from the starship Enterprise.

  1. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be laughing at your pain...but stealing a transporter was just too, too funny. If you do end up getting your hands on one, could you let me know? 'cause I need to figure out a way to get to France that doesn't involve stupid commercial airlines!

I'm sorry about the dojang. I'd be bummed, too. Can't you ask if the boys can stay in the same class? I think I would!

  3. I understood about 18 words in that post (tae kwon do? eh?) but sending you some love for being an awesome momma. Don't you just love the aggravation we go through for our kids?

  4. This is precisely why I haven't allowed Ben to start with martial arts. I promised him that when he turned 7 we would talk about it. Truth be told, it's just because *I* need some time off. I can't handle scheduling anything else right now.

    I wish you luck, darlin'.

  5. You are an amazing Mom and your beautiful, talented, wonderful kids are proof of it. You'll get through it and one day your kids with thank you for it.

  6. I wrote about the transporters from Star Trek one time. Sure, they're really cool on the show, but it seems like they never really work when you want them to. Plus, I'm pretty sure that if you had one today, it would use up a LOT of electricity.

Maybe you guys should move next to the Dojang. Is there a good Korean restaurant nearby? That would make it worth the trip--for me.

  7. Girl, you are insane! We took this winter off. No ballet, no gymnastics, no basketball. I know, we're mean. But we needed a break.

  8. I guess I'm lucky that my kids actually don't like to be involved in many outside activities. Our oldest son participates in almost zero (soccer in the fall) and our younger son has now pared his interest down to just soccer and baseball (two different, nicely spaced seasons). I can't imagine having activities going on every single night. You are a saint!!

  9. A transporter would be nice - I need one of those too. You have your hands really full - I'm sorry! I have 4 kids - all going in different directions at any given time, so I get it. Take care and good luck. Kellan

  10. LOL Funny post! I know what you mean. We're constantly running my oldest to dance and the little guy will soon be starting soccer.

If you figure out a way to get your hands on one of those transporters, let me know. ;)

I can relate to this but don't hate taekwondo, ok?

Caleb wants to take Tae Kwon Do but I told him he would have to quit some other sport first.
My one bother is a 2nd degree blk belt and my other brother got up to hmm, brown I think.
I would like to take it myself but there are only so many hours in the day

  14. Feeling your pain. between the drive to preschool, TKD for girl and Swimming lessons it seems like we are on the go non stop. Toss owrk into the mix and I am never home. I had to give away 3 shifts this week, I just needed a break and to spend time with Shane and the kids. I miss putting them to bed at night.
